Holiday weeks ahead
The general rule in metro Detroit
- When a holiday falls on a weekday, pickups on the holiday and later that week usually run one day late. Days before the holiday are normal.
- Thanksgiving (Thursday): Monday–Wednesday normal; Thursday moves to Friday and Friday moves to Saturday.
- Christmas and New Year's (both Fridays): Monday–Thursday normal; Friday moves to Saturday.
- Towns that only collect Monday–Thursday (Chesterfield Township, Rochester Hills, Troy, West Bloomfield Township) shouldn't be affected by the Friday holidays. Troy has confirmed no delay; for the others it's based on their holiday rule.
- Exceptions exist (Harrison Township shifts the whole township). Check your town's page.
Who picks up your trash
Priority Waste serves 26 of the 30 towns we track. The rest: Tringali Sanitation (Harrison Township, Troy), Express Waste (St. Clair Shores), Warren city crews, and WM (part of Detroit).

About this site
Is Trash Delayed? puts every metro Detroit holiday trash delay in one place, in plain English. We read each city, township, and hauler's published schedule and link the official source on every town page. Where a town hasn't posted a specific week yet, we say so and apply its published holiday rule.
Always confirm with your city. We're independent and not affiliated with any city or hauler. Schedules change, and your city's official notice always wins.
