Leaf Pickup 2026 in Metro Detroit: Curbside Leaf Collection by Town

21 of the 72 metro Detroit towns we track run a separate fall leaf program, where city crews pick up leaves raked to the curb or street. 13 have posted 2026 dates, mostly running from October into early or mid-December. Everywhere else, leaves go out in paper yard waste bags or marked cans until compost pickup ends.

Most programs run by zone or section, not on your trash day. Rake leaves out only when your town says to, keep sticks and grass out of the pile, and move cars off the street on your day.

Towns where leaves go with yard waste only

These towns say there is no loose-leaf pickup; bag leaves in paper yard waste bags or labeled cans. Several, including Warren, Troy, Hazel Park and Southgate, forbid raking leaves into the street.
